I Hate Social Media!

So, today is the start of this new blog. There's a lot more to do, like adding features, making things look nice, doing an RSS feed (or maybe linking updates to bluesky somehow), but for right now, it's usable for its purpose, which is blogging/journaling. I want to quit social media as much as I can. I know I can't do it all the way, I depend on some measure of visibility to be able to get work. For money. Money, money, money. That's what it all really comes down to. But seeing all the misery of the world is exhausting. Whether it's the crappy ways people treat each other or all the ways social media makes you feel like you're failing or alone, I'm tired of it, and I'm not really strong enough to just be better about how I consume stuff online. Best I can do is put on horse blinders and separate myself from it.

Here's hoping for a better year of posting! I got a job recently, to do some environmental art for a project. I'll talk about it more when things are actually happening; right now I'm just waiting for the team to get assembled so I can start doing work. Still, things are gonna be rough until my first paycheck. Ganbarimasu.

What I've Been Up To

I've been playing a shitload of Deep Rock Galactic. Thanks to the Lunar New Year stuff, I've been rocketing through the battlepass thing. But, alas, not too fast... it ended today, so the bonus is gone. Rip! Hopefully I don't burn out again, I love this game. I just tend to, like the dwarves, drink too greedily and too deeply. Rock and stone!

I've also been watching Dungeon Meshi lately with a friend. That's a series I loved but forgot to keep up with, thanks to my ISP not letting me on the website I was reading it on. I can do that now with my VPN (Mullvad, not sponsored (could you imagine)), but at the time it took the wind out of my sails. But god, I forgot how funny and creative it is. It inspired me to have fun with monsters and mimics especially. Love those guys. Unforgivable Ryoko Kui, making such a great series.

Edna the Ugly

Lastly, I drew a character sketch. Dunno what to do with her, I'm not really interested in doing anything with her at the moment since I've got something else in the works. Maybe I'll find something, though! I'll call her Edna, and she'll call herself "Edna the Ugly", both for mean things people say about her and the grisly way she fights. Who wants to get boxed in the face with steel fists??

That's all for now. Take care, and be kind to others!
